Missouri Assistive Technology

last edited 4 years ago by obriend

Missouri Assistive Technology is very active and meets primarily in Jefferson City or Columbia each quarter, except for December when they meet in the KC area.  Council members come from around the state, many from the mid Missouri area.  The majority of members are required to be self advocates or parents/family members of children with disabilities.  There are also agency representatives on the Council.

Missouri Assistive Technology can be found online at: http://www.at.mo.gov/ and is one of the few programs in the state that is cross age and cross disability.  The office is located in Independence, but can be reached toll free at 1-800-647-8557.  Programs include:

TAP for Telephone - TAP for Telephone provides basic voice telephone calling (both sending and receiving) and telephone alerting devices for individuals with disabilities in the state of Missouri through the delivery of adaptive telephone equipment.

TAP for Internet - The Telecommunication Access Program for Internet provides, at no cost to the consumer, the adaptive computer equipment and training needed for basic access to the Internet and e-mail in the home.

$how Me Loans - Low-Interest loans to eligible persons with disabilities in Missouri to purchase assistive technology.

There are more programs!  If you want to learn more, check out the website to learn more about who we are and what we do.  A telework program is coming soon so keep checking back for more details.  The Swap n' Shop is still up and running.
